From dust to tribe . . .

Dust and Tribe (D&T) is the experience of growth through adventure.

Our quarterly excursions are opportunities for Muslim men and women to push through the boundaries of supposed mental and physical limits into a new awareness of what we can be when we support one another.

It is where we discover what we are (dust) and what we become together (tribe).

Fall 2018: D&T V

Building the Tribe

It's been three years since the men last gathered.

We trekked with llamas through the mighty Emigrant.

And it's been two years since our women were left alone on the island of Santa Cruz.

And in that time much has happened.

Vows were broken. Children lost. Wealth squandered. Elders have passed.

It is time to gather again.

We're pulling together men from all over the southland. Good men. Men with whom I have trekked and camped. Men with whom I have laughed and cried. And even some men who have been vouched for by others, whose company I have yet to enjoy.

We are building the tribe.

In the fall, we lock eyes beneath a desert sky. We tell our stories, offer our warnings, and find the things which must be found.

We gather in the Valley of Death. We take in her beauty and her desolation. And we pray that God will meet us in that place.
